Babson College's Dhruv Grewal Is Named 2005 Distinguished Marketing Teacher

WELLESLEY, Mass., Nov. 29 (AScribe Newswire) -- Babson College marketing professor Dhruv Grewal was named winner of the 2005 Sherwin-Williams Distinguished Teaching Competition, by the Society for Marketing Advances (SMA), at their annual conference in Texas, on Nov. 4.

The SMA is a dynamic and influential contributor to marketing thought, practice, and education. Its members - from around the world - teach at all types of colleges and universities and bring leadership and expertise in diverse areas of marketing.

Grewal, who holds the Toyota Chair in Commerce and Electronic Business at Babson, is co-editor of the Journal of Retailing. His research and teaching are on pricing, value-based marketing strategies, direct marketing, e-business, retailing, services marketing, and global marketing.

Earlier this month, Grewal received the 2005 Fordham University Life-Time Achievement Award in Pricing. He has also won the American Marketing Association Award for Innovative Excellence in Marketing Education (2003), as well as several awards for his research.

"A lot of what I study and teach deals with how firms create, communicate, and capture value," says Professor Grewal. "The unique culture at Babson with its integrated curriculum promotes a synergy among disciplines that is rarely found at other schools," he says.

"The respect for Babson within the business community helps me to bring high-caliber speakers and executives into my classes," he says. "The opportunity to interact with top business leaders helps students in tackling current and important issues in the field, such as multi-channel integration and transitioning from bricks to clicks."

Grewal is a Distinguished Fellow of the Academy of Marketing Science, and has published over 65 articles in journals such as: Journal of Marketing, Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Retailing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Public Policy & Marketing, Journal of Applied Psychology, and International Journal of Research in Marketing. He is currently writing a major textbook, Marketing, for McGraw-Hill. He also mentors junior faculty research activities and consults with top business firms.

Grewal, of Wellesley, earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Delhi, and MBA and Ph.D. from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
